646 BAGS OF INDIAN HEMP WORTH N11M SEIZED ALONG WITH TWO ESCORTS

The Oyo state Command of the Nigeria Police, in its bid to ensure a crime free Oyo State, paraded 646 bags of Indian Hemp worth N11 million along with two escorts which they  arrested on the 29th November 2013 following a tip off received by the DPO Ogbere.

According to the report during a press at Eleyele Police Head Quarters, Oyo State, Nigeria on the 3rd November 2013, the two escorts, David Ndidi(male) and Toyin Adegoke (female) were intercepted along with a consignment of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp, which were packaged in a truck at a cannabis plantation, Eleja village, near Akanra.

The police also stated to have intercepted the escorts and the consignment in a Daf lorry with Reg. No. XR967JJJ at about 9pm, declaring to have also expedited actions to ensure that other suspects who they said took their heel at the sight of the police are subsequently arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking to the newsmen at the parade, one of the suspects, David Ndidi said he was only an escorting the lorry which he knew nothing about the content while the female escort, Toyin Adegoke claimed that she was going about her orange business when she was eventually arrested in connection with the Indian Hemp container.

Oyo State Police, however has declared that the two suspects and the consignment will remain in the police custody pending the time they will be arraigned while effort continues toward the arrest of other suspects.
