The Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), has dissociated itself from the planned mass protest to be led by the ace artiste, Tuface, on Monday, saying schools will remain open to staff and students.

According to Ceoafrica, the Assistant Secretary of the state chapter of NUT, Comrade Gbenga Ayetoba, during an interview with journalists said that the union was not aware of the protest and that its members would not take part.

He noted that as an organised union, decisions on matters as important as taking part in protests are not just taken overnight, adding that as at the moment both administrative and academic activities shall resume at schools on Monday.

He, however, advised parents and guardians to warn their wards against being used to foment trouble, and that any student not found in school during school hours will be dealt with accordingly.

He said: “NUT is not aware of any protest and we are not participating. The new academic week begins on Monday and we expect both our students and staff to be in school.

“We will also appreciate the protesters not to go to any school to drag our students for participation. At the appropriate time, if NUT, deems it fit to participate in any a popular protest, the public will be carried along”.
