Over the just concluded local government election in Taraba state, the state’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has tagged it as disappointment.
According to Ceoafrica, Alhaji Sani Shul, chairman of the party, alleged that the conduct of the election was characterized by malpractices, harassment and intimidation of the opposition.
Shul, who expressed disappointment of the opposition over the conduct of the council polls, revealed that the chairman of state electoral commission, Dr Philip Duwe, had before the election promised to provide level playing ground for all political parties during the election.
“We, the opposition political parties took Dr Duwe by his words and participated in the election in anticipation that the election was going to be free and fair but it turned out to be a total disappointment”, he said.
He alleged that the election was not conducted in Bali, Ibbi and Wukari local government areas while in areas where the election was purportedly held, returning officers were nowhere to be found.
