In view of his pragmatic leadership which has helped in solving some pressing challenges facing the country, A Non-governmental Organisation, the Initiative for Demonstrating Change in Nigeria, today commended the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo.
According to Ceoafrica, in a statement issued in Abakaliki, the National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Chinedu Ogah said that the Vice President’s recent initiative has led to the stoppage of bombing of pipelines within the Niger Delta Region.
Ogah in the statement said that, “many issues that would have landed Nigeria into the shelves of hatred of the international community were handled with the Acting president’s professionalism”.
The statement read further that, “It has become exigently important for us to examine the records of the Acting President of the country since Mr President departed Nigeria to the United Kingdom”.
“Let me place on record that Nigeria is richly blessed to have a professor of Law as the vice president of this country. So many issues that would have landed Nigeria into the shelves of hatred of the international community are handled with professional competence”.
“We wish to commend the vice president for making proper consultation with the president before taking some actions; we are proud of the vice president”.
“When President Buhari left Nigeria for medical reasons, he displayed high level of transparency and accountability by writing to the appropriate bodies to notify them of his intention, many Nigerians went into social media to cajole and make mockery of the absence of the president but the dexterity with which the vice president handled the situation made him exceptional”.
It is on record that the president has been visiting the Niger Delta region to appeal to the militants to stay further bombing of pipe lines in the region and the result has been very appreciable.
Moreover, “it is worthy of note that the Acting president signed into law 6 bills from the national assembly and withheld assent on others for reasons that would be best addressed by the President himself.
“We also salute the courage of the vice president in the nomination of Walter Onoghen for the position of the chief justice of Nigeria. It is a right step in the right direction. We enjoin all and sundry to rally round the acting president to galvanize the affairs of the country for the good of Nigerians. Other notable records of the acting president are as follows:
“Inauguration of task force on rice and wheat production; while Buhari was away, Osinbajo inaugurated a task force on rice and wheat production, while stating that feeding the nation’s population was the focus of Buhari’s administration.
“Meeting with governors of Niger Delta states and the Service Chiefs over militant attacks, acting as president, Osinbajo held an emergency security meeting at the State House in Abuja”.
