Founder of the Anti-Corruption Network and former House of Representativesmember, Mr Dino Melaye on Monday accused President Goodluck Jonathan of covering up corruption allegations within his administration, just as he described the anti-graft agencies as toothless bulldogs.

Speaking at this year's World Anti Corruption Day held in Ibadan, Oyo State, Mr. Malaye described the current administration at Aso Rock as the most corrupt in Nigeria’s history, adding that they have never seen such monumental corruption in this manner before.

He explained that Nigeria is not only corrupt but corruption has graduated from the stealing of millions to trillions noting that it is quite unfortunate that since he came into power, President Jonathan had not prosecuted and jailed anybody accused of corruption and  that all the corruption scandals are still on without judgment.

Mr. Malaye stressed that this particular government romances corruption, embraces corruption, and promotes corruption adding that a lot of ministers such as, Godswill Orubebe, Allison Madueke Dieziani, Stella Oduah, and a host of others have been indicted in this government but the president has refuse to take any decision.

"As I speak to you, Allison Madueke and Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC), has been indicted by five different reports, which includes, KPMG report, Ribadu report, Farouk Lawan report, Senate report on subsidy and the Naiti report which stipulated clearly that N1.3 trillion is yet to be remitted into the federation account from NNPC," he said.

He wondered why in spite of all the damaging reports, Madueke was still attending Federal Executive Meetings and dining with the President when she should have been sacked.

"We have convention in this country that once a public officer has been indicted, he should be removed from office until prosecution is completed and we have precedent; "When Late Sunday Afolabi was the Minister of Internal Affairs during Obasanjo's tenure, he was indicted in the National Identity Card scam, he even died in jail," he recalled.

The anti-corruption campaigner also noted that Professor Fabian Osuji who was the Minister of Education then, for N55 million, he was removed from office and also during the time of Late Musa Yaradua's tenure, Arch Gabriel Aduku and Professor Grange, both as Ministers were removed from office because of their indictments noting that  in this government, they have seen ministers indicted and reindicted and no decision has been taking.

"It was also clearly stated that the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah abuse and disobeyed the procurement acts of this country, where she bought two vehicles for N255 million above her threshold. "House of Representative has indicted her, also Cosharis came to the
hearing and told the whole world that their initial agreement was N70 million and it was NCAA that told them to inflate the price N255 million," he said.

The renowned activist alleged that Nigeria law had been abused and the president was not doing anything for the containment of corruption, adding that Jonathan's government had not shown in anyway that they are ready to fight corruption.

"ICPC, EFCC are just toothless bulldogs, the 27 governors are undergoing investigations, but not one of them has been prosecuted and jailed. We have over 100 people arrested for various offences regarding subsidy fraud, but not one of them has gone to jail” he said.

He urged the international community to call on United Nations and African Union to internationalize corruption in Nigeria, and call on President Jonathan to take corruption cases seriously adding that corruption is the bane of development in Nigeria, and its responsible for bad roads, dilapidated schools, substandard hospitals, and it is the reason why our economy is in shambles.
