The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that Governors Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State and Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State will not return to the PDP, despite their meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Sunday.

The party, in a statement issued yesterday in Lagos by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the governors were at the Presidential Villa at the invitation of President Jonathan, adding that being the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there is no reason why any governor will not honour an invitation by the President.

He stressed that there is, therefore, nothing extraordinary about the correct decision of the two Governors to meet with the President, even as we note that the decision by some PDP governors to attend the meeting is purely within their prerogative.

APC warned against any attempt to put an unnecessary spin on the meeting to give the impression that the governors, “who are now proud members of the APC family”, are considering a return to the PDP.

The decision by the governors to leave the PDP is irreversible, in spite of the meeting. Therefore, Governors Wamakko and Kwankwaso remain APC Governors,’’ the party said.
