In their efforts for a united Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), youths under the aegis of the UPU, yesterday begged former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori to wade into the leadership crisis rocking the union.

According to Ceoafrica, UPU’s National President, Comrade Francis Arhiyor, made the appeal when he led members of the Association on a solidarity visit to Chief James Ibori.

Arhiyor who in the address read by his National Secretary, Comrade Vincent Oyibode expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of Chief James Ibori after serving a jail term in the United Kingdom.

He said that the group has been in support of the ruling People Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State since 1998 till date.

He disclosed that they worked assiduously for the emergence of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor of the State in the 2015 general elections and thereby called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to remember members of the group in his empowerment programme, appealing to the former Governor to intervene on their behalf.

In his response, Chief James Ibori thanked the group for the visit and advised against dissenting voices in the course of resolving the UPU leadership crisis.

Ibori said that the interest of generality of Urhobos is bigger than the interest of any individual and charged the visiting Urhobo youth leaders to assist in the settlement of the UPU's crisis.
