Ekiti Lawmaker Remanded For Alleged Murder

NIGERIA (Ekiti)- A member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Boluwade Kehinde, was remanded in prison yesterday along with eight others by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged murder.

According to the prosecutor, Ojo Osubu, the accused committed the offence on November 3, at Emure-Ekiti Local Government Area when he unlawfully caused the death of one Folusho Ogundare during a meeting at Emure-Ekiti.

Osubu also said other accused persons unlawfully shot and injured one Ige Beatrice as well as causing fracture to the hand of Tope Okeya.

Furthermore, they were accused of carrying firearms in public place without lawful reason which contravened Section 319 (1), 320 (2) of the Criminal Code of Ekiti, 2012.

Other accused are Babalola Olomi, 47; Ayo Famojiro, 45; Peter Ilesanmi, 26; Kayode Adebayo, 33; Bayo Afolabi, 47; Alaba Molomo, 29; Taidi Yinusa, 30; and Victor Fagborila (20).

The prosecutor said that the case file would be sent to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

Having refused their plea, the Chief Magistrate, Ropo Adegboye, remanded the accused in prison pending the advice of the DPP.
