SENATOR ABIOLA AJIMOBI, EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE

GOVERNOR AJIMOBI REITERATES COMMITMENT TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATION IN OYO STATE

The Oyo state government has again reiterated its commitment to the development of the education sector in the state.

Governor of Oyo state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi stated this while speaking at the 5th and 6th convocation ceremony of the Lead City University Ibadan Oyo state.

Senator Ajimobi who was conferred with the degree of Doctor of Public Administration at the event disclosed that no society can make progress without human and capital development hence the commitment of the state government towards providing quality infrastructures as well as teachers to improve the level of education in the state.

The governor also noted that in his quest to return the state back to the pace setter status, his government has subsidized the fees in all the state owned institutions.

While commending the management of the Lead City University Ibadan for the award on behalf of all the other recipients, the Governor stated that the school has brought intellectual value and development to the city of Ibadan adding that his administration will continue to support the institution in its drive to ensure academic excellence in the state.

Governor Ajimobi further urged the graduating students to be hard working as it is the only way to achieve success in life.

In his welcome address the vice chancellor of the Lead City University, Professor Olufemi Onobajo commended the doggedness, resoluteness, determination and commitment of the state governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi to the all round transformation of the state.

The VC added that the school is proud to be associated with the good works of the state government.

Other notable individuals conferred with various degrees include the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty Oba, Dr. F.E.O Akinruntan, the United Nation under secretary general and executive secretary of the economic commission for Africa Dr. Abdoulie Janneh amongst others.  

The two sets of graduants belong to the 2012 and 2013 set with 944 students graduating from the 2012 set and 877 students from the 2013 sets.

Speaking with CEOAFRICA news at the event, some of the graduating students expressed gratitude to God for allowing them complete their programme and also the management of the school for the drilling and quality education they received.
