Hundreds of youths yesterday protested the proposed zoning arrangement by the PDP for the coming local government area elections in Cross River State.

The Boki Youth Vanguard in Boki Local Government Area said it would not vote for the PDP in the June 17 local government elections if the zoning arrangement was adopted.

Mr Kenneth Bisong, who is the coordinator of the group, said they had kicked against zoning of the chairmanship slot to Bunyia/Okubuchi ward in Irruan clan in Boki Local Government Area by Nchibe Bokyi but nobody listened to them.

He said Bunyia/Okubuchi ward had produced a senator and a House of Representatives member, two former council chairmen and a one-time military administrator of Bayelsa State.

According to him, since the creation of the local government area in 1991, the people of Kakwagom/Bawop ward have not benefitted from any elected political office, prompting their appeal to be allowed to produce the chairman this time around.
