In order to improve environmental sanitation at the Apo Mechanic Village, Abuja, the FCT Administration has set every Friday between 7-10 am as sanitation hours.
The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello in company of the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, made this known during an unscheduled visit to visit to the Village on Monday.
The Minister reiterated that cleanliness is next to godliness and therefore told stakeholders in the spare parts market that everything would be done to encourage the culture of cleanliness.
Malam Bello urged them to work extra hard to clean the surroundings and make the place look like the international spare parts market it was envisaged to be.
He assured that the FCT Administration would also support in the effort by providing trucks to evacuate all the refuse collected every Friday.
While calling on the traders to be good residents of the Federal Capital Territory, the Minister enjoined them to continue to support the government and pray for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration.
The General Chairman of Apo Traders Association, Chief Chimezie Ifeh however alleged that the 98 hectares of land allocated at Kubwa which covers over 4000 shops was hijacked under the conspiracy and connivance of some of their leaders; adding “we are asking for a high powered Ministerial Inquiry into Kubwa allocation fraud.”
“The said allocation was shared amongst themselves who then sold to very few traders and now, they are plotting for the high population of active traders to vacate the temporary buffer area as we are made to understand,” he added.
