NIGERIA (Bayelsa)- Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has approved the suspension of nine teachers who were absent from work when he paid an unscheduled visit to Commnuity Secondary School, Aleibiri, Ekeremor Local Government Area.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Bayelsa State Governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, Governor Dickson expressed his displeasure towards attitudes of some teachers to duty, adding that his administration will not condone indiscipline in the state.

“Too often teachers in our various schools, especially those in the communities, have a record of not showing up in classrooms to carry out work for which they are being paid.

“The same is true for nurses and doctors who are employed to provide medical services in our communities.

“We will no longer condone this wanton negligence of duty going on in the state civil service,” the statement said.
