SOUTH AFRICA- Barely 24 hours after Nelson Mandela was buried in Qunu, his statue has been unveiled in the capital, Pretoria.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the giant nine-metre (30ft) bronze statue has been erected at the Union Buildings, the government headquarters, to mark the end of ten days national mourning declared by the South African government to honour the late anti apartheid leader.

Mr Mandela, 95, was given a state funeral at his ancestral home in Qunu in the Eastern Cape on Sunday.

The statue was unveiled by President Jacob Zuma on South Africa's Day of Reconciliation, a public holiday which marks the end of racial conflict in South Africa.
