The Edo State Police Command has assured motorists travelling to the South-East and other states in the South-South through Benin by-pass this yuletide, saying it had mapped out strategies to ensure security along the road.

Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Folunso Adebanjo, who stated this in Binin, also described as an attempt to ridicule the command and distort facts, the claim by the family of one Samuel Imaikop that the deceased was a victim of extra-judicial killing.

The late Michael was among four suspected armed robbers killed by the police penultimate Sunday. The Police command and the family had been in a war of words over the death after the family insisted that the deceased was a farmer and not an armed robber as claimed by the police.

Commissioner Adebanjo, who spoke on the arrangement being made to beef up security along the notorious Benin bypass, stated that the bypass is no longer haven for armed robbers adding that they have a special squad that will ensure that Nigerians ply that road without any fear.
