Council Polls to Hold in Nasarawa on March 15, 2014

NIGERIA (Nasarawa) – The Independent Electoral Commission in Nasarawa State (NASIEC) has fixed  March 15, 2014 for the local government elections in the North Central state.

Speaking about this development, Chairman of NASIEC, Abdullahi Moddibo, said the commission is committed to conducting free, fair and credible elections in the state.

He also released the detailed time table for the election during a media chat in Lafia, yesterday.

Abdullahi Moddibo said the ban on political campaign had been lifted, adding that political party primaries are scheduled to hold between January 4 and 13, 2014.

He appealed to political parties in the state to strictly adhere by the rules and regulations guarding the conduct of the election, saying all logistic arrangement had been concluded including the recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff for the exercise.

The commission earlier fixed December 14, 2013 for the election; but postponed it due security challenges.
