The Nigeria’s Envoy to the United States, Prof. Ade Adefuye, has been selected a recipient of the 2014 Dr. Martin Luther King Legacy Award holding on January 19, 2014 in Washington D.C.

Amb. Adefuye is recognized for his intellectual contributions to the service of humanity.

The award, which is a yearly event, is organised by the International Salute Group, paying tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Chairman of International Salute Committee, Madeline Lawson, conveyed the selection of Adefuye in a letter dated December 12, 2013.

She said the committee recognised the distinguished leadership and contributions of individuals who have positively impacted the global community with the King Legacy Award and the Dorothy Height Leadership Award.

“For 2014, the committee has selected you (Adefuye) to receive the King Legacy Award for International Service.

“The International Salute has been held annually since 1992, as a way of sharing King’s historical work at home and abroad, “the letter added.

Past recipients of the award included Gen. Colin Powell, Congressman John Lewis, Sen. Bob Dole, former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan and a host of ambassadors.
