The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr Morounkola Thomas has said that the Governor Abiola Ajimobi has sone excellently well in terms of security in the state.

He stated that the since the inception of the Ajimobi-led administration, residents of oyo state have enjoyed peace and security compared to previous administrations.

However, Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, the State General Secretary of Accord Party; stated that it is the responsibility of the government to provide security in the state. "Although we acknowledge that there has been relative peace in the state, that is not to say that there are no security challenges still prevailing in the state."

Citing the incidents of the one million boys cult group, the burning of houses at the Isale Osi, Fokor/Popo Axis and many others, Hon Alarape scored the government a bit above average in terms of peace and security.

In his own opinion, Mr Akeem Azeez, the Public Relations Officer of SDP stated that the Government has not done anything about security as touted. He cited his personal experience with violence and armed robbery in broad day light. He therefore rated the government’s performance on peace below 40%

Speaking about peace in the state, Commissioner of Information, Toye Arulogun stated that “if there is no peace in the state, there won’t be development. Oyo state has recorded 103% increase in the state’s hospitality industry. This cannot happen in a state ridden with insecurity. So I believe that there is an improvement in security.”
