Ninety-six teachers have been recruited in 10 schools under the Sokoto state Ministry of Science and Technology.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Alhaji Bello Idris who disclosed this in Sokoto, said the move was to boost science and technology education in the state.
He said approval had been given to conduct induction training for the newly recruited science and technology teachers.
According to him, a number of supporting staff had also been employed in the schools under the ministry.
He added that as part of efforts to enhance the capacity of teachers, approval had been given to conduct workshops for them.
The Permanent Secretary said repairs and renovation of structures damaged by windstorm in five schools under the ministry were executed at a total cost of over N204million.
The schools include Government Technical College, Farfaru, Government Science Secondary School, Gwadabawa, and Government Girls Commercial Secondary School, Tambuwal.
The others are Government Technical College, Binji and Government Girls College, Sokoto.
He said all the outstanding students feeding bills amounting to N367. 6million had been settled.

"The government does not owe any feeding contractor in the state up to April, 2017,"he stated.
