The seven-time Formula 1 Champion, Michael Schumacher, is currently battling for survival after he had a ski accident in the French Alps, leaving him in critical condition following head injuries suffered on Sunday morning at the Meribel resort.

On arrival at the University Hospital in Grenoble, Schumacher underwent surgery, but the outcome, according to his doctor, cannot be revealed for now.

His family members are at his bedside. He remains in a coma and the medical team treating him said that they are working "hour by hour".

"All we can do is wait," they added.
