Former Finance Minister Rajaonarimampianina Wins Presidential Election in Madagascar

MADAGASCAR – Former Finance Minister, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, has been declared winner of the presidential election in Madagascar.

According to the electoral commission, Mr Rajaonarimampianina, allied to incumbent President Andry Rajoelina, won 53.5% of the vote in December's run-off, while his rival, Richard Jean-Louis Robinson, alleged that the second round election were rigged and is demanding a recount.

The electoral law would make necessary pronouncement regarding the demand of Mr. Robinson in 15 day’s time.
