The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) of Jigawa’s command said that 28 people had died in 71 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) between January and June, across the state.

The State’s Sector Commander, Mr Angus Ibezim, via a statement issued on Friday in Dutse, said that the crashes occurred between January and July 2017, in which 268 people sustained various degrees of injury.

The sector commander attributed the crashes in the period under review to over speeding, loss of control and dangerous driving.

According to him, the three factors are responsible for over 75 per cent of road crashes and deaths on the nation’s highways and cautioned drivers to desist from over speeding.

“Human factors accounted for over 75 per cent of road crashes and deaths on the highways. “For instance, the command recorded 71 road crashes resulting to 28 deaths and 268 injured between January and June 2017.”

“So drivers are cautioned to drive sensibly to save the lives of passengers entrusted in their care,” the sector commander pleaded.
