Another tragedy struck in Ogun State as two persons were confirmed dead while eight others injured yesterday in an auto crash involving a white 14-seater Toyota Hiace commercial bus and a multi-coloured Benz truck with registration number MUS 727 XX loaded with generating sets at area J3, along Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway.
Spokesman of the State Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the bus with registration number ENU 994 ZH drove against the traffic and “in the process, one of its rear tyres busted and the bus rammed into the truck, which was driving on the right lane.”
“The bus drove in direction prohibited by traffic laws, going through one way and in the process, rammed into the truck, which was driving on its right lane. Seven males and one female were injured including the driver of the bus, while two males were dead,” he said.
Akinbiyi explained that both the dead and the injured were taken to Ronal Hospital, Ijebu-Ode while the two vehicles were towed to Ogbere Police Station.
