2017 YOUTH DAY: Lawmaker tasks Youth on conflict prevention

In line with the International Youth Day celebration 2017 which is dedicated to celebrating young people';s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion, social justice, and sustainable peace; a member of the National Assembly, Hon. Dr.  Temitope
Olatoye Sugar has enjoined Nigerian Youths to prevent any form of conflict that may disintegrate the nation saying development only thrive in the atmosphere of peace.
The federal lawmaker representing Lagelu-Akinyele Federal Constituency stated this in a message to the youths across the country to commemorate this year';s United Nation';s day for the Youth.
Hon. Sugar called on Nigerian youth irrespective of ethnic or religion background to devout their energy on nation building through peaceful cohabitation.
The lawmaker noted that there is growing recognition that as agents of change, young people are critical actors in conflict prevention and sustaining peace.
He added that, the current generation of youth are the largest in history and young people often comprise the majority in matters of nation building, peace and security.
Hon. Sugar reaffirmed the important role youth can play in deterring and resolving conflicts, and are key constituents in ensuring the success of both peacekeeping and peace-building efforts.
He called for active participation of youths in decision-making through access to all-round quality education and health care which promote their role as active contributors to the society and afford young people with opportunities to reach their potentials and achieve their goals. 
He latter implored the youths to shun all forms of vices such as cultism immoral dressing, thuggery, drugs abuse, violence and so on to achieve their full potential in life.
