ZAMBIA –Opposition party in Zambia, Alliance for a Better Zambia, says it will contest the February 25 Katuba by-election to mark its first electoral test since formation last year.

ABZ president Father Frank Bwalya said the party had already commenced the process of identifying a candidate in the area.

Fr Bwalya however indicated that they will work closely with other opposition political parties during the election.

"As ABZ we are have resolved that we are going to contest the Katuba by-election and we have already started the process of identifying a candidate. But we are going to consult with other opposition political parties but that does not necessarily mean that we will field one candidate," he said.

"We have to work together as opposition parties and see how we are going to protect ourselves because the police will not protect us as they are highly compromised."

Fr Bwalya has also declared that he will prove in court that President Michael Sata is a "Chumbu Munshololwa".

He said that there were a lot of cases where President Sata had proved that he does not take advice.

"I have respect for elders. I can never call President Sata an idiot. It is Mr Sata who calls his Ministers idiots. What I wondered in Kasama is whether he sometimes thinks before he acts or whether he thinks before he says something," he said.

"When I go to court, Zambians have told me they will give me a lot of secrets about that man and what he has done to prove that the man is a Chumbu munshololwa and that he does things without thinking. I am relishing that time in court."
