Addressing the nation from the grounds of the Legislature on Monday, Senator Weah said he has been the custodian of peace Liberians now enjoy and promised to do everything it takes to maintain the peace and stability in Liberia the news reports.
According to him, the CDC is ready to campaign throughout the length and breadth of the country to ensure that it wins the election run-off.
He told Liberians that the voice of the people will be heard, urging his supporters to turn out in their numbers to vote during the run-off.
Amb. Weah called on supporters of the CDC to remain focus on the run-off and should not be moved by distractions.
“While they have taken the matter to court, they are in communities campaigning; don’t be moved by their distractions,” Weah stressed.
He commended political parties which have lived up to the Farmington River Declaration for sustain peace.
Quoting John Lennon, Weah said “Peace is not something you wish for, is something you make, something you do, something you are, and something you give away.”
He explained that peace and stability lie in the hands of the Supreme Court, although he didn’t say how or through what means.
“When we take side, we must be prepared for the will of the people to manifest,” Weah added.
He indicated that the voice of the people is the voice of God and the will of the people must be respected.
He called on the international community to pay keen attention to the election process, adding that they should ensure that the will of the people prevails.
Weah pointed out that he has kept the country peaceful and stable, adding that he felt the same way that Vice President Joseph Boakai is feeling now.
He indicated that Liberia is all that Liberians has, so they should keep the peace. The CDC, he said is ready and the people are prepared for change and they have resolved for that change.
Meanwhile, more endorsements from other political parties have emerged. The latest endorsement on Monday, October 30, 2017 came from the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) of former Central Bank Governor Dr. J. Mills Jones.
A statement read by MOVEE’s Chairman, D. Maxwell Kemayan endorsed the presidential bid of the CDC. Mr. Kemayan also condemned the call for re-run.
“We thank the Liberty Party and other contending opposition parties for testing the veracity of the process; however, we warn that any attempt to cancel the results of the October 10, 2017 Presidential and Representative elections could reverse the democratic gains and render the state ungovernable. Moreover; the Liberian people are absolutely not prepared for any undemocratic action that will destabilize and disrupt the peace in the Republic of Liberia,” he stressed.
The MOVEE Chairman explained that his party remains committed to the Ganta Declaration which calls for opposition parties in forming alliance purposely to unseat the ruling Unity Party.
Kemayan added “Beyond respecting the spirit and intent of the Ganta Declaration, the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) is very much committed to upholding the spirit and intent of alternation of political authority and power as an important ingredient of democratization. In a country where the private sector continues to remain strangulated and politically controlled by the Unity Party-led Government for the last 12 years, MOVEE will not be a part of any judgment in the name of election outcome that will contribute to exacerbate inequalities and economic disparity”.
He called on supporters of MOVEE including County Chapters and Auxiliaries to work closely with structures of the Coalition for Democratic Change and vote Senator George M. Weah as the next President of the Republic of Liberia on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
