The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has defended the appointment of liasion officers in the 33 local government areas of the state by governor Abiola Ajimobi, attributed the criticism of the Accord Party as  a crude manifestation of the naivety of the art of governance.

The party's Publicity Secretary, Honourable Dauda Kolawole, wondered why the Accord Party could not hide its ignorance of governance and had to advertise it this shamelessly. “The fellow who signed the press release claimed to have a doctorate degree. It is sad because elementary political science teaches that democracy is government of the people by the people. What then is his beef with the people who have been given means of livelihood by the masses-propelled All Progressives Congress and who are the link between the grassroots and the state government?

``If Accord Party and its minions do not understand the template of governance, isn’t it more honourable to keep their ignorance in its shield rather than advertise it crudely as this?” the APC wondered," APC said.

Deploying what it termed the gutter politics of the AP, the APC said the party further showed its ignorance when it feigned ignorance that a court of competent jurisdiction had ruled over the local government election in the state. “The judgment, in a suit filed by the PDP with number 1/611/2012, delivered recently by Justice Muktar Ladi Abimbola of Court 2, Ibadan in a 57-page ruling had noted that the current atmosphere in the state did not warrant the conduct of local government election because of the pending case relating to the determination of the composition of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) at the Appeal Court. Why Accord Party would still be flogging a dead horse beats our imagination,” the APC said.

The APC urged the Accord Party to concentrate on the pending judgment of the Appeal Court on alleged fiddling with the state government’s money by the leader of the party while he was governor, stating that this was a greater financial burden on the lean resources of the state, rather than the appointment of liaison officers who are citizens of Oyo State and who are benefiting from dividends of democracy of the Ajimobi government.
