Death toll following clashes between herdsmen and farmers in Benue State since December 31 as increased to 80, said an emergency official Tuesday.

“80 is the number we can say for now, the attacks have not stopped,” Benue State Emergency Management Agency executive secretary Emmanuel Shior told AFP.

Mean while President Muhammadu Buhari  has promised that his government would do everything possible to forestall a recurrence  and also committed to ensuring that all those behind the recent attacks in the state were brought to justice.

‘’We have deployed additional security resources to fish out the attackers, bring them to justice, and prevent further attacks,” he added
