The Commissioner, Delta State Police Command, Muhammad Alhaji Mustafa, has said his administration will not condone any act of corruption and impunity on the part of his personnel.
The commissioner stated this during a press briefing at the State’s Police Headquarter, Okpanam road Asaba, on Tuesday 23th January, 2018.
Cp Muharmmad in his first press briefing since assumption of duty as the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, thanked the Delta state government for the unflinching and continuous support to the Command, and assured that the residents of the state and the Command under his leadership, will work in synergy with other security agencies, well-meaning individuals and organizations in the state and will do everything humanly possible towards ensuring adequate security of life and properties of the citizens.
“To this end, our officers and men have been directed never to rest on their oars in securing their areas of responsibilities.
“My administration will encourage mutual respect between the police and the public. It will neither condone any act of corruption and impunity on the part of our personnel, nor lawlessness nor disregard for constituted authority on the part of the citizenry.”
Reeling out some of the achievements recorded by the Command in the first week of the New Year, the Commissioner of Police said, “We must all collaborate in the fight against the common enemies of the society, criminals of all descriptions, kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and criminal herdsmen.”
Muhammadu explained that for easier and better policing of the state, the Command will be sectorized and officers will be appointed to supervise each of the sectors saying that this will make it simple to know who to held accountable in case of any incident.
Inaugurating the Anti- Cult Committee, the Police Boss said it is in line with the Command’s desire to tackle the menace of cultism, he noted that Anti-Cult Volunteers have been put together in various parts of the state to be known as “Delta State Anti-Cult Committee”.
The Police Commissioner also explained that Members of the committee, who are inaugurated today, will interact with the youths in institutions of learning and the communities in order to educate them on the dangers of cultism and the need to shun cultism and other vices.
The committee is similar to the Farmers/Herdsmen Committee already put in place by my predecessor.
He appealed to all and sundry to cooperate with these committees in order to achieve the laudable objectives of setting them up.
The police boss thanked the members of the press for their cooperation with the Command so far and implored them to continue to cooperate with the command stressing they are also critical stakeholders in the security project.
“Permit me however, to counsel that your reportage of events should at all times be guided by the principles of objectivity and fairness. You should always consider the security implications of every report before publication,” CP concluded.
