Dangote group is set to commence $150m Solar Power Project in Kano as the state government on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding for the provision of 100 Solar megawatts with the Dangote group.
Signing the agreement today in Kano, the state secretary to the state government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji said the move is geared towards increasing electricity supply to enhance economic development of the state.
Alhaji Usman Alhaji said this is the second efforts in the provision of solar power in the state as the government recently signed an agreement with a Chinese company to provide 100 megawatts also
The Secretary to the State Government said the state on its part will provide 150 hectares of land and other support towards the successful completion of the project.
Signing on behalf of the Dangote Group, the executive Director, Engr. Mansur Ahmed said the project will be jointly funded by its partners Black Rhino from the United States and would be completed in two years
Mansur Ahmed noted that they are developing a robust community engagement plan that will ensure that cordial relations exist with the host community and relevant agencies for smooth operations
The project will be sited at Zakerai in Gabasawa local government area of Kano state with the signing witnessed by Chairman of Kano state Investment Promotion Agency Alhaji Isyaku Umar Tofa for the state government while the Corporate Strategy Specialist of the Group, Zakari Momodu witnessed for the company.
