Bankole Ogunseye also known as “Incredibly Banky” is the chief executive officer of Groove Entertainment Media Group. He is one of the finest and outstanding disc jockey in the city of Ibadan and Nigeria at large. In an interview with CEO Africa’s correspondent today, he opens up on his start up, challenges and how he has been able to stand out and distinguish himself in the industry.

Born and raised in Ibadan with a desire to fulfill a life-long dream of sharing his style of deejaying and music with the world, Incredible Banky decided that the industry needed to make space for him after graduating as a Mechanical Engineer.

“Groove Entertainment Media Group was created in order to set up new ways as well as strategies to reach out and be of service to people. We go beyond the points traditional media and service fail to touch while adding new possibilities to an ever expanding marketing mix. It’s a multi-faceted independent full service entertainment organization specializing in events, production, music publishing, recording production, artist management, product development and event coordination” he explained when asked about his business synopsis. In all of this, I am a business man and entrepreneur but you all know me more as a Disc Jockey, he added.

He further explained that the idea and concept to venture into Disc Jockeying started off as a non-business thought. “At first it was not meant to be business, it was all about delivering good music to my ears until some kids approached me and paid me to spin at their valedictory service, this was my first gig and instinct into business”.

The Incredible Banky explained that the exploding unemployment rate in the country was not encouraging enough to pursue job opportunities in his course of study “I realized that the best way for me to evolve was to be the one employing people while maintaining multiple streams of income. This turned me into a positively thinking entrepreneur whose willing to grow in the right directions”

He also mentioned that his major challenge at the initial point was having to be a “self- taught”. It was not easy because he had to train himself in the art of  professional disc jockeying. “I applied different strategies and now it is paying off”. He said.

Ranking as the top choice for major events in the city, Banky laid importance on the fact that his understanding on how to approach and conduct business professionally is the unique virtue that has made him thrive amongst others. In marketing his business, he said it was not easy at the offset, but consistency and good service delivery has helped him push his brand to its present level.

He expressed his love for the city of Ibadan as one of the reasons he decided to establish his business there. He said the city has given the opportunity to be found, heard and connected while exposing him to different markets. It has offered him an atmosphere to think, work and rest.

The need for sacrifices and risks-taking in any business is the path to growth he said. I don’t compromise standards. He still delivers optimally even when he does not get a direct value for what he has provided.
