A Senatorial candidate, Kethi Kilonzo has dropped out of her party’s Senate candidature because of her step-mother.

Kethi made her position known via twitter that “a child does not compete with the mother. It is a curse”. Her step-mother Nduku Kilonzo has been touted as the possible senate candidate for the NARC part, an affiliate of the Jubilee party, although the party leader Kiema Kilonzo has denied this.

However, Kethi, the daughter of the late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo, made it clear that although she will not compete against her step mother, she will also not support her bid under the Jubilee ticket. Supporting Jubilee party, she said, would feel like a betrayal of her father, who was the Secretary General of the Wipe Democratic Movement.

But, Kiema Kilonzo has been quoted saying NARC is supporting the candidature of Professor Philip Kaloki for the Makueni Senate seat after conducting an internal election.
