The Governor's wife stated that, "since breast cancer can now be managed through early detection, I have taken it upon myself to come out today to flag off the distribution of breast cancer self-examination kits to our women so they can have some form of control over their lives and health"

According to her, "it is worthy to state at this point that sequel to this flag off in Egbeda Local Government, there will be distribution programmes in all other local governments in the state".Mrs Ajimobi pointed out that the kits were supplied by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), at the national level to raise awareness about early detection as an important factor in the fight against breast cancer. "Our women must understand that if detected early, this disease need not end their promising lives. We in Oyo state are therefore highly appreciative of this laudable gesture.

"Today, we have in our midst, a delegation from the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, who are on a tour of the state to inspect the projects of the Office of the First Lady in order to assess how much we have been able to make an impact on the lives of our women both in rural and urban areas"

She expressed her joy that the government of Senator Abiola Ajimobi has paid more than lip service to his promise to serve the people of Oyo state, adding that for the first time, people in the state are truly enjoying the dividends of democracy and their votes are working for them to make life more meaningful.

She concluded by reiterating the importance of awareness of early detection in fighting the scourge of cancer and called on people to spread the word in order to keep women alive
