The challenges facing the country for years now have been attributed to lack of good leaders in the country. This was made known by Mr. Kehinde Olaosebikan in Ibadan while featuring as a guest on the programme ';';Community Today';'; on CEOAfrica online TV.

The former Chief press secretary to former governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lam Adesina blamed the current woes bedeviling the nation on poor leadership that has characterized the nation since 1979.

Mr. Olaosebikan stated that the country lacks good and focused leaders who have the in-depth knowledge and understanding of how best Nigeria can work. According to him, leaders like late sage, Obafemi Awolowo , Zik of Africa are difficult to see because those who are not prepared are the ones often times saddled with the responsibility of piloting the affairs of the country.

Kehinde went further to say that leadership qualities possessed by past leaders like Obafemi Awolowo are missing and also the focus aspect of good leaders has extremely gone into a state of oblivion in our present leadership structure in Nigeria.

';'; Nigeria';s major challenge since Independence, has remained with us and still with us today is leadership problem. During the time of Awolowo and the likes, we have leaders that were committed, Visionary leaders and leaders with focus. Leaders that really cared for the interest of the masses. But, unfortunately since that time, till now Nigeria still lack great leaders. People with great understanding of Nigeria itself and those who really care for the masses of this country.';';

Responding to the question on restructuring, Mr. Olaosebikan stated that for restructuring to be effective and result-oriented, there is need for the leadership hierarchy to be adequately structured to accommodate genuine representation and productive performances.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain blamed former President, Olusegun Obasanjo for failing to provide working electricity supply and effective transportation for Nigerian people. Olaosebikan said that if those two sectors had been properly managed by the former president, Nigeria as a nation would have been better for it by now.

Resource Control

He called for the devolution of power so as to empower the state to control her resources by having more allocations compared to the present sharing formula that allocates fifty two percent to the Federal government.

According to the former Oluyole Local Government Chairman, the present allocation sharing formula will make it difficult for State Governors to pay workers’ salaries. He enjoined Nigerians to support the APC in her quest to restructuring Nigeria which on the long run will foster developments.

The President should do more

Mr. Olaosebikan has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to do more in the area of Fulani herdsmen who have engaged on killing spree of innocent Nigerians. He appealed to the president to speak to the people in the language they will understand so as to pacify both the herdsmen and the farmers.

He suggested that president should address the issue boldly without indicting anyone or tribe. He further said that presidential broadcast which will be translated to other languages will go a long way in persuading the people to toll the path of peace.

On the coalition formed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mr. Olaosebikan dismissed the threat the coalition may pose describing the move as dead on arrival. He posited that no better candidate than President Muhammadu Buhari both in APC and those who have so far shown interest in the exalted number one position in the country.

He lampooned those writing letters to come out clean and tell Nigerians what they were able to achieve while they were in corridor of power. Describing Obasanjo as a man who had the ample opportunity to transform Nigeria but failed to utilize such opportunity, Mr. Olaosebikan noted that President Muhammadu Buhari remains the best candidate among those who have shown interest to govern the country come 2019.
