It is undoubtedly factual that the church is a paramount pillar of change especially in the faces of unpalatable and societal demeaning activities which are capable of plunging any society into a perpetual pit of anarchy. It is this utmost and life changing duty the society behoves on the church that spurled  the Catholic Bishops of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province to come up with the publication of two different books on family and life which were launched at the John Paul II centre,  University of Ibadan.

The launching of the two books attracted the creme de la creme  in the society who converged to witness the presentation of the books which many described as basic tools for society  transformation in the areas of marriage and family institution as well as the preservation of the dignity and sanctity of human life. Some of the prominent dignitaries at the event include the Paramount Ruler and Alake of Egbaland, His Royal Highness, Oba Adedotun Michael Aremu Gbadebo, the Archbishop of Ibadan Archdiocese, Most Rev. Gabriel Leke Abegurin, the representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria President, the representative of Ibadan Chief Imam, Catholic Bishops from Oyo, Osogbo, Ibadan, Ekiti, Ondo and Ilorin among others.

One of the books, '' A Catechism on Marriage and the Family: The Teachings of the Catholic Church' ' harps on the need to re-awaken the human mind on why marriage and family institutions should be made sacred because  both institutions are ordained by God. Also, the book emphasizes on  why these two institutions are very vital in shaping the society for a better standard of living.

The other book ''A Catechism on Human Life from Conception to Natural Death'' addresses the dignity and sanctity of the human life especially now that human lives have been made a rubber stamp. The book greatly calls for human life to be highly respected right  from the moment of conception in the womb as no man has the license to take life since the ability to create life is missing in a man.

According to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Michael Gbadebo, the two books are perfect guides to ensuring a successful marriage within and outside the Catholic church.  Describing the books as great guides to married couples, the first class monarch  noted that the society is what it is now because the family values have broken down and the purpose of the two books is to get us back to those values.

The royal monarch  went further to say that there are so much impunity as people now have broken homes  thus creating the vacuum in the upbringing of our children. Oba Gbadebo therefore enjoined members of the public to get copies of the books in order to bring back the society lost values  and morals especially on issues that bother  on marriage and family institutions as well as the dignity and sanctity of the human life.

In her contributions as the chairperson of the event, Dr. Mrs. Juliana Iyabo Olusanmi posited that the family is a domestic church positioned to foster the unity and harmony the society needs to attain  the desired results demanded by those living in it. Quoting Jeremiah 1:5, Dr. Olusanmi noted that even before we were formed, God knows about us. Hence, the cogent  reason why we have no autnority  under any guise to take the life of anyone even at the stage of conception since God is the creator of such life.

In the words of the books’ reviewer, Rev. Fr. Michael Banjo, the two books are hihgly  timely going by the unimaginable level of immorality and evil practices that negate the principle of right to life and happy home. Rev. Fr Banjo noted that the books address anti-Christ practices especially in the areas of marriage, family and life which according to him are the hubs of a better and peaceful society.

His Grace, Most Rev. Gabriel Leke Abegurin, the Archbishop of Ibadan Archdiocese and one of the authors of the two books observed that the two books are designed to correct some societal abnormalities especially in the area of parenthood which has led to youth restiveness in the society. The Cleric further said that everyone must strive to respect the dignity and sanctity of life because God alone has the exclusive right to create life and since man does not have that same right, then there should be no instance of taking any life even from the moment of conception.

He enjoined youths to be watchful and vigilant in their matrimonial decision in order to avoid unhappy and broken homes because wrong decision on issue of marriage can go a long way in thwarting the dream of a promising youth.

One would not have been more  accurate in words if the two published books are described as ''societal redeemer'' owing to the volume of suggestions and guidelines provided to curb the menace of unwarranted killings and the unending cases of divorce that have become a societal emblem. Hence, it becomes highly applausive to commend the efforts of the bishops of Ibadan Catholic Ecclesiastical Province for their insight in coming up with such society transformational books even at a time when lives and marraige institution have assumed the role irrelevance.
