The Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP youth leader, Mr. Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye has taken a swipe at the President Muhammadu Buhari led government and his party the All Progressives Congress, APC for their abysmal failure in fulfilling the juicy promises made to Nigerians during their electioneering campaign.

Adekola made this statement at the inauguration ceremony of some committees set up by the youth wing of the party which was held at the party secretariat in Ibadan. The PDP youth leader berated the APC led government for their incompetence by destroying the people oriented policies of the PDP which undoubtedly brought joy and happiness to many.

Adekola who went further to recall how Nigerians were cowed by the APC into believeing that they were on a ride to the promised land, described the ruling party as a pregnant woman who proclaims virginity. He said ''dear patriotic youths, you would not forget the empty promises of President Buhari and the APC before the 2015 general elections. They made some empty promises on the following claims: to reduce the price of petrol to #145 per litre, to provide free education at all levels, expansion of electricity generation to 40,000 mega watts, to stabilise global oil price at $100 per barrel, that $1 would equate #1, to build one refinery every year.

The Oyo PDP youth boss further carpeted the ruling party in reneging on these promises and bringing untold hardship on innocent Nigerians whom they cajoled with their team of liars. President Buhari has reneged on nearly all of these vows. Nigerians thought he was taking them to the promised land not knowing that it was a journey back to Egypt. Even though the APC claimed that the PDP had destroyed Nigeria, Nigerians would not forget in a hurry that during the last PDP -led Federal Government, a bag of rice was seven thousand five hundred now sixteen thousand naira, a litre of petrol was eighty seven naira now one hundred and forty five naira, a dollar was one hundred and seventy naira now three hundred and sixty eight naira. The evil perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen is daily becoming unbearable''.

Oyo PDP youth wing inaugurates committees

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Oyo State PDP youth wing has set up four different committees saddled with the responsibility of working among the youth populace and beyond in ensuring victory for the party at the 2019 polls.

The inauguration which took place at the party secretariat in Ibadan had in attendance the South West zonal youth leader of the party, Aremo Femi Adetola, the Oyo State PDP publicity secretary, Engr. Akeem Olatunji and former youth leaders of the party.

In his speech, the Oyo State PDP youth leader. Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye called on members of the committees to be proactive in their duties saying that, the task ahead demands collective efforts.

According to Adekola, the youth wing of the party wants to be part of the success story of the party in 2019.

He charged the youths not to be deterred in their rescue mission of Oyo state and Nigeria at large from misrule by the opposition party.

We want to be part of the PDP's success story of 2019. Now is not the time to fold our arms; now is not the time to be nonchalant. Now is the time to put all hands on deck. Now is the time to spare no effort at dislodging the APC and its government in 2019. 2019 is the time that Nigerian citizens will become rulers in their land again. We are not unaware that the task ahead of us is enormous but, I categorically say that we will have the job done.

He therefore enjoined the newly inaugurated committee members to engage in mass mobilisation of teeming youths in the state in the voice of unity by putting first the interest of the party.

On his part, the South West zonal PDP youth leader, Aremo Femi Adetola congratulated the newly inaugurated members of the committees for their appointment. He described their appointments as a clarion call that must be obeyed with all level of seriousness, commitment and dedication. He went further to say that the woeful performances of the ruling party both at the state and federal level have made the work a bit easier. Adetola however charged members of the committee to work in unity as that is the only tool that can fetch them the desired result.

While commending the youth leader of the party, the state publicity secretary, Engr. Akeem Olatunji admonished members of the committees to work together despite likely challenges they may encounter in the course of discharging their duties. He said what the party needs at this time is unity and commitment because the party cannot afford to fail in 2019.

Engr. Akeem therefore enjoined the people to support the PDP in its quest to liberating the masses from the oppressive and retrogressive administration of the APC. They should keep on supporting us because the three years administration of the APC at the national level and their seven years administration at the state levelhave brought untold hardship to the entire citizenry.

The newly inaugurated committees are Committee on Contact and Mobilization, Committee on Welfare, Committee on media and Committee on Strategy, Logistics and General Purpose.
