The Federal Government has identified community- based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR ) plan , as a panacea to pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta .
The Director General of National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Mr . Peter Idabor , said this during a one - day seminar on community- based DRR on the dangers of pipeline vandalism, held in Uyo , Akwa Ibom State .
Represented by the Director of Finance/ Account , Mr . Simon Ugbe, he explained that from the pilot scheme on community - based DRR between 2014 and 2015, huge success was recorded in Rivers and Bayelsa States .
He said the agency is prepared to expand the scope of DRR , by promoting collaboration with local communities in the region.
