Ajimobi Sacks 60 Yes O cadets

The Oyo state government has sacked over 60 members of 'YES O' cadets out of 1,339 enlisted about two years ago by the State Ministry of Environment.

You will recall that the cadets who were enlisted on N10,000 salary to control traffic and  clean the state in order to poverty alleviation and reduce the spate of unemployment in the state.The 60 cadeta were allegedly caught for dereliction of duty and wanton extortion on many innocent traders, commuters, particularly in Ibadan, the state capital.

 

CEOAFRICA correspondent reports that policemen and soldiers were seen at the entrance of the ministry of environment as some of the'YES O' members were shut out of the premises, loitering on the street while others were being addressed within by the Commissioner.

 The state Commissioner of Environment and Habitat, Lowo Obisesan, speaking on the sack of the cadets, in a phone conversation said government enlisted the cadets were expected to give the people of the state and government the best, but some of them were doing the job without human face.He said some of them were enforcing the law negatively and the state executive council felt some of the enlisted people were not the right ones to have been engaged.

The commissioner said investigation revealed that most of them did not have the prerequisite requirements requested and many of them do not come to work; they go only when they want to collect bribe from people. Obisesan added that the government has approved re-enlisting 1,000 youth, assured the people that they will be enlisted carefully so as not to make the first mistake.
