Hamidou Koundaba, the Mayor of Koutougou commune, in Burkina Faso’s northern province of Soum was shot and killed on Sunday evening.  

According to report received, the attackers fled the scene after killing him outside his home.  

The president of Burkina Faso, Roch Kabore has since condemned the “cowardly and despicable” act and offered his condolences to the family of the deceased.
