Plateau State Police Command says it has recovered about 1,097 arms and ammunition from criminals in the state.

A breakdown of the recovered weapons indicated that 171 arms, 795 ammunition and 131 cartridges were recovered.

The command also expressed concern over the increase in rape cases in the state, with about 19 cases and 24 arrests between February 2018 and now. The suspects have also been charged to court for prosecution.

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Undie Adie, stated this during a press conference where he also paraded suspected syndicate which specialised in stealing of cars, snatching of motorcycles and culpable homicide.

Adie advised parents to give more attention to their female children “so that they don’t stray into the hands of criminally-minded young men.”
