The Secretary of the Adagunodo Ruling House in Iwo, Prince Semiu Oladimeji, has called on the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; and other prominent traditional rulers in Yorubaland to caution the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Akanbi, against dressing as or using the title of an emir.

He said Iwo and the Oluwo were not subjugated by the Fulani, saying it was absurd for Oba Akanbi to dress like an emir and use the title to address himself.

The prince said this in Iwo on Friday at a press conference to address what he described as the “misrepresentation” of the stool and the town by Oba Akanbi.

Oladimeji said the title of an emir was alien to the stool of Oluwo, saying none of the predecessors of Oba Akanbi ever adopted such a title.

Oladimeji said some of the conducts of Oba Akanbi were appalling and should be stopped, otherwise, he would drag the monarch to the court.

Oba Akanbi had recently installed Yacoub Albaki as the Waziri of Yorubaland and he also addressed himself as the Emir of Yorubaland at the ceremony.
