The Nigeria Immigration Service , Nasarawa State Command , has arrested 59 immigrants from the Republic of Niger and other countries for allegedly migrating to the state with fake documents .
The NIS Comptroller General in the state , Mr . Malik Aliyu, who paraded the suspects at the command headquarters on Saturday , said they were arrested in Kilema , Lafia Local Government Area and other parts of the state .
Aliyu said the operation was based on a directive given by the comptroller general of NIS to checkmate the activities of immigrants across the state .
He added that it would go a long way in ensuring orderliness in the forthcoming general elections in the state and the country at large .
The NIS boss stated that only four out of the 59 suspects , who were apprehended, had valid documents and that arrangements had been concluded by the command to repatriate the suspects back to their countries.
He , however , revealed that most of the suspects were from Niger Republic , adding that the essence of the operation was to enable the service to identify defaulters who could cause mayhem in the society.
