Following  mass sacking of his cabinet last week, CEOAFRICA.com has gathered from Juba, South Sudan that the president of the country Salva Kiir, has appointed a smaller cabinet to pilot the affairs of the country with him, although the vice-president’s position remain vacant.

South Sudan is the youngest independent nation in the world, following their secession from Sudan in 2011.

The dismissal of the cabinet has to do with an apparent power struggle between Mr Kiir and Mr Machar, the dismissed vice-president.

The cabinet dismissal by the president received worldwide attention, including the US. But the Office of the President said he had acted to promote efficiency and good governance.

Meanwhile, the President named Mr Kiir the governor of Jonglei State, Kuol Manyang, as the new Defence Minister, even though the region is violent-prune.

He also retained Stephen Dhieug Dau as Oil Minister.
