President of the Cooperative Federation of Nigeria (CFN), Mr.Oriyomi Ayeola, has called on leaders of cooperative society to desist from misappropriation and embezzlement of cooperators’ funds.
He made the call during his installation as Arobayo of Epeland, where he urged cooperative executives to uphold moral rectitude and accountability.

According to him, there are reports of misconduct from some cooperative leaders, adding that it is pertinent that such leaders comport themselves properly and know that whatever they do has both negative and positive implication.

He counseled: “We should all know that we are being watched as a group and as individuals. As cooperators the onus is on us to know that whatever position we hold, we must be accountable. We need to know that we are holding in trust funds for the benefit of all and everything we are doing should be done with trust being the cardinal of cooperative scheme.”
Ayeola encouraged sole proprietors and small scale business owners to come together and form cooperatives for their benefit, adding that aside having access to funds there are many benefits to enjoy as a member of a cooperative society.
