Land buying spree mysteriously ends the life of a Tycoon in Uganda

A city tycoon who died mysteriously last week is said to have been involved in a land buying bonanza.

Popularly known and addressed as Kawongojjo, 38-year old Haji Ismail Sessaazi passed away at the Kampala International Hospital.

Before his death, Sessaazi was said to have sent packing his own village mates because he had bought the entire village.

Other villages he bought and sent over 600 occupants packing includes Ssamba, Mpumudde, Kikonge, Kisaana and Nakabazzi, all located in the Sekanyonyi sub-county, Mityana district.

He was said to have evicted his own father from their ancestral land and later settled him in a village called Nzunga, situated at Nakaseeta, Busimbi sub-county, the land which he sub-divided and sold off. He also grabbed land belonging to one Kasozi, which he later sub-divided and sold off.

This business tycoon however contracted a mysterious ailment that paralysed his arms and legs and before he finally gave up the ghost, he is reported to have visited several hospitals in Germany and India, but doctors were unable to diagnose the sickness.

He was also alleged to have visited many witchdoctors and herbalists, but no solution was found. He was also said to have told the Sseguku residents that he was told the land buying spree was the cause of his mysterious illness. He then informed them that he was giving back their land so that they could spare his life.

Sessaazi was survived by two widows and several children.
