First Lady of The Gambia organized a banquet in honour of His Excellency Sheik Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya1 Jammeh as he turns 48.

The President used the occasion to unveil his new developmental packages which include the establishment of US$1 Million development fund for the youths of the country, the launch of a new public transport system- Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC), as well as other specialized medical services at the Edvard Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul to end referral of patients outside the country.

The event witnessed the presence of eminent personalities among whom were the vice president and Minister of Women Affairs, the chief justice of The Gambia, Secretary General and the head of Civil Service, Cabinet ministers, Members of the diplomatic and consular corps and a cross-section of Gambians.

In her address, the host, Her Excellency Madam Zineb Jammeh, spoke highly of her husband and expressed gratitude to all those who graced the occasion. She expressed her joy that her husband witnessed another year on earth.

The event which was held at the luxurious Coco Ocean Hotel was climaxed with the display of fireworks which lasted up to 20 minutes.
