2 crushed to death, vehicle burnt in Lagos train accident

Two persons were confirmed dead while several others injured and property worth millions of naira destroyed, yesterday, as train rammed into a 14-seater commercial bus in Agege-Pen Cinema area of Lagos State.

The incident happened at about 9am when the train journeyed from Ijoko, Ogun State enroute Apapa terminus, Lagos State. There were conflicting accounts about the casualty figures which sources in the area put at seven but emergency agencies said only two lives were lost.

An eye witness account has it that the stationary commercial bus with number plate FKJ 829 XW and a commercial tricycle were on Agege Pen Cinema end of the rail track when the train rammed into the bus leading to the death of two people while several others were injured.

According to Sources, the victims were those who hung on top of the train coaches but fell off during the incident and two were crushed to death while others were injured and now hospitalised.
