Reports reaching the news desk of CEOAFRICA is that the former South African President and Nobel Laureate, Nelson Mandela has been hospitalized for a recurring lung infection.
Mandela, who became South Africa’s first black president in 1994 having triumphed over adversaries that made him to be jailed for several years, was reported to experience deteriorating state of health.

Although latest has not been heard about the present Mandela’s state of health, but Presidency spokesman Mac Maharaj said that he will issue a statement about Mandela’s health as soon as he receives any information from the Doctor.

However, people, especially South Africans are praying for the quick recovery of the man revered for his bravery and iconic stature. Mass was offered at Regina Mundi Catholic Church in Soweto where hundreds gathered to pray for “Mabida”. “We wish him speedy recovery, he must get well soon. We know what he did for us in South Africa. All the nation, black and white wishes him well”, Soweto resident Mlugisi Sekhosana told Reuters.

Mandela has been battling the lung problem since when he was imprisoned for nearly three decades at the Robben Island camp near Cape Town. Last December, he was hospitalized for nearly three weeks and went through surgery to remove gallstones.

Presently, many international and local media are gathering at the Medicline Heart Hospital in the capital Pretoria, where Mandela was believed to be receiving treatments.
