CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the above revelation was made by Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperative, Mr Mbogo Futakamba. He said that the country usually come up with strategies that would ensure food security require to sustain the populace, even in drought periods.
“Climate change has brought many consequences with regards to unreliability of seasoned rains which lead to crop failure. So, we decided to come with strategies to deal with that phenomenon,” he said.
The first measure was the use of technologies in all agricultural synergies in making sure that there is food sustainability.
Furthermore, the government revised the subsidies programmes which would enable farmers to secure loans as institutionalized groups or through cooperatives. He said,” We have decided to assist farmers especially in areas that are conducive for farming by providing them with vouchers for fertilizers, seeds and other farming inputs.”
Also, Mr. Futakamba said food security has been assured because many farmers were selling crops in the country, but since last year, the export ban has been removed with focus on farmers to produce more for both the local and foreign market.
