Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the state Chief Judge, Justice Bolajoko Adeniji, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the Chairman and Group Managing Director, Odu'a Investment Company Limited, Chief Sharafadeen Alli and Mr. Adebayo Jimoh respectively today visited the ailing Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the National Treasurer, Comrade Gbenga Opadotun and Alhaja Fatimah Abdulkareem.  

Both Opadotun and Abdulkareem recuperating at University College Hospitals (UCH) were among the ten survivors of the auto crash which occurred last Friday at Osu area near Ilesa, Osun state when NUJ officials were returning from official assignment at their National Secretariat in Abuja.

Ajimobi who was represented by his deputy, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo condoled with Oyo NUJ; requested for the best of medical treatment for the survivors and restated the commitment of the state government to foot the medical bills of the duo.

The Chief Judge offered special prayer for the survivors, the entire journalists in the state and congregation of Cathedral of Methodist, Elekuro where the duo of the CJ and Opadotun worship.

Also the Alaafin who was represented by the Basorun of Oyo and other members of Oyomesi including the Local Government, Caretaker Chairmen of Oyo West and Atiba, Soji Ojoawo and Prince Akeem Adeyemi respectively wished Opadotun and Abdulkareem quick recovery.

Sharafa Alli, the Odu'a boss, the GMD, Adebayo Jimoh and other management staff of the company handed over a letter of condolence to the NUJ boss who was assisted by his Secretary, Comrade Rotimi Babalola.

In their letter, Odu'a investment described the death of three journalists as a great tragedy, an incalculable loss to the media sector and the entire nation just as the GMD added, "this incidence has denied Nigeria the services of these people who could have made meaningful contributions to the national process of promoting freedom of the press and democratic values in the country through the pen."

Also, the members of the Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo state council, led by Comrade Ayobami Ajayi, visited the survivors.
