A Ugandan high court judge, Stephen Mubiru, on Monday granted bail to an opposition lawmaker charged with treason over his alleged role in the stoning of President Yoweri Museveni’s convoy.

Robert Kyagulanyi was charged on Thursday and the court proceedings were televised.

Kyagulanyi ‘s treason charge was withdrawn by the Military but re-arrested and again charged with treason.

CEOAfrica gathered that the court ordered those charges dropped, but he was then taken into civilian custody on new treason charges.

Kyagulanyi, a musician-turned-lawmaker who goes by the stage name Bobi Wine, and four other lawmakers were arrested on Aug. 13 on suspicion of involvement in the stoning of a presidential convoy during a parliamentary by-election campaign.
